ARIZONA FLORA, A Continuing Story

One of the great joys of life in Arizona is the always surprising  flora and fauna of the region.  Well, OK, the fauna can be creepy, if not downright terrifying, but I believe that if you don't hike in the mountains or the rocky desert, you're not going to have any problems with it at all.  I've never been either creeped out or terrified at Kierland Commons or Scottsdale Fashion Square and I've lived here nine years.  Case closed!  So, with that in mind, I want to show you my absolute most favorite landscape plant in Sun City Grand.

This is it!  Quick--what does it remind you of?  If you said "Deer Grass", you poor child.  Have you no imagination?  And to you who just said, "Muhlenbergia Rigens"...Why are you reading this blog?  All right, one clue only and, frankly, the right answer will be much easier if you are hooked on late night syndicated TV, or just happen to be old.

Cousin Itt!  The Addams Family in its original incarnation!  Gomez lusting after Morticia.  Lurch resonating  "You rang?"  Pudgy Pugsley. Wednesday carrying around her decapitated dolls. Which reminds me--Have you seen The Tudors?  It's wonderful!  Oh sorry, I'm digressing.  I'm completely convinced that Cousin Itt retired to SCG with his syndication check and immediately began producing fatter, greener, silent little Itts.

Sometimes little fat Itts just saunter along beside the sidewalk, and hardly ever wander into the streets.

Mostly, though, they just hang out with the trees, cacti and rocks--kind of like the rest of us.  It's a good life here!
